Our expert advice comes from the knowledgebase our sole advisor and content creator, Jack, developed in his 10 years of experience in higher education as a student and employee as a Financial Aid and *OneStop advisor at the University of Florida. The knowledge base he developed includes programs, resources, and opportunities available to students. He also has the knowledge to come up with creative ideas and solutions to common problems that students and their families face.

As he works as the University Preparations Advisor and Content Creator, he will continue to increase his tool bag of higher educational knowledge. This comes from his own extensive research and research on your state's and your institution's unique processes, policies and procedures.

* A OneStop advisor is the liaison between the departments of Enrollment--Financial Aid and Scholarships, Registrar, Bursar and Admissions offices-- and the public (students, parents, etc.) at the University of Florida. OneStop was created for students to go to one place for all their enrollment service needs. Jack serviced the public through phone calls, emails, in-person visits (walk-in and appointments), and video calls.

5.) Why join University Preparations services?

You are not getting the quality of service you need from your schools' advisors.

Your schools' advisors are understaffed to adequately meet your needs. It's not their fault nor the school's fault, that there isn't enough money to staff enough advisors to adequately meet the needs of all their students. To staff the number of advisors needed would be unsustainable for the institution.

The ratio of students to advisors at most schools are hundreds and thousands of students to every one advisor. Most times of the year it takes weeks of scheduling in advance or even hours of waiting on hold to connect with most schools' advisors. When you finally get in contact with them, it's a 5-to-10-minute conversation, and that could be a generous estimate. Since they serve so many students they have to be in and out of the interactions as fast as possible and are pressured by management to not take too long in each interaction to be able to serve as many people as possible.

A 5-to-10-minute conversation or even a 30-minute conversation is not enough time to completely understand and identify your needs and adequately advise you.

Going to your schools' advisors is a gamble with the experience level of the advisor. This field of work experiences high turnover rates, which leads to the possibility of getting a new advisor that is not knowledgeable in the programs, resources and opportunities available to you.

The other type of advisor you could get may be experienced but also burnt out from the countless number of students that they served before you. This will often lead to them forgetting to ask you important questions and details. This results in them giving you incomplete advice. They may just be trying to survive until lunch or 5 PM.

Most of the advisors at your school have good intentions but are not set up for success to help you to the extent you need.

By exclusively relying on their advising, you are most likely missing out on opportunities available to you to maximize your college experience.

Unfortunately, our services do not replace your schools' advisors because they have access to important information that only they are allowed to access.

That said, our services play a critical role in ensuring you don’t miss out on valuable programs, resources, and opportunities available to you.

We are an important supplement to your schools’ advisors.

We will help prepare you to get the most value out of your 5-to-10-minute interactions with your advisors.

With University Preparations, you know you are getting a veteran advisor who is knowledgeable and experienced. You are getting an advisor who is ready to give you their full-time and attention to fully understand your needs. He wants to help you live out your academic and social goals. Our advisor, Jack, gives every client the level of service he would give his own sister and family members.

Our services include one-on-one hour-long video calls. To best prepare for these meetings, we encourage our clients to fill out our questionnaire to the best of their ability prior to the call. The questionnaire has strategic questions to get to know your needs and goals to facilitate our meeting.
